Our Combis

Self-drive South Africa in one of our affordable VW Combis

Here at Crazy Combis we believe that the way to travel is self-drive. South Africa 's roads are clearly signed and hiring a VW combi provides you with a way of cheap travel in Africa, whilst having the freedom of going where you want to.

However, self-drive South Africa appeals to two different ‘types' of people, those who are on “Africa-time' and those who are still wearing their watches after they landed in Africa .

Let us explain:

Hippie combis – camper hire Africa for those on "Africa time"

If you are laid-back and on “Africa-time” we have the funky old fashioned “hippy” style Combi. They are very cool, have loads of character, travel along at a chilled out 100km/h maximum. However, this doesn't mean they are going to leave you stranded. Reliable and hard-working this is camper hire Africa at its best. Enjoy a journey of shorter distances with more stops along the way.

Photographed here is Suzie - our flagship model. She has recently had a new 2.0 litre engine put in and has taken to the roads as if there's no tomorrow. For those of you in the know, some of our Hippie Combis are still the original split-screen windowed ones. If you always wanted to hire on of those retro VW Combis that your dad raves about, then have a look at our affordable rates for these funky Retro Combis.

Later combis – self-drive South Africa for those wearing watches

For those of you wearing watches, and perhaps wanting a bit of a quicker, more modern journey we offer 1985-1988 square shaped combis for your self-drive South Africa adventure. Main difference here is obviously these are younger, have a tad more space, go faster and have water-cooled 2.1 litre engines.

Our baby in the picture here is Maggie, and well, she's one heck of a babe! Check out our rates for camper hire Africa or contact us if you'd rather speak to one of us.
